Objective journalists – me included – need to place more emphasis on verifiable facts, rather than the wishy-washy he-said-she-said style that gives equal weight to claims that vary wildly in truthfulness. Even though it might upset readers who disagree, reporters should have the courage to say, “No, Mr. Protester, old people won’t be euthanized,” or “No, Mr. President, your plan is going to cost us a lot of money.
